Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in West Palm Beach, FL seeks a Surgical Technician to provide support in the Operating Room under surgical team supervision.

You will perform sterile technique, assist surgeons, and manage instrument handling and setup for complex procedures. The role requires CST certification with an accredited associate degree, plus 3 years of surgical tech experience and proficiency with robotic systems MAKO and DaVinci.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST or TS-C) with an accredited associate degree or completion of a recognized surgical technician program.
• Minimum of 3 years hands-on surgical technology experience (1-3 years hospital experience strongly preferred).
• Demonstrated proficiency with robotic platforms MAKO and DaVinci systems.
• Clinical experience across ophthalmology, endovascular procedures, and orthopedics.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to the surgeon and other team members during surgical procedures
• Functions as a primary scrub person responsible for handling instruments, supplies and equipment
• Prepares, organizes and maintains highly complex sterile surgical setups
• Plans and discusses each procedure with surgical team to ensure supplies and equipment are available
• Maintains proper disinfection and aseptic technique throughout procedures
• Performs routine maintenance of equipment to prevent malfunctions
• Assesses equipment needs and maintains stock of supplies
