Providence Newberg Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join our dedicated team. You'll support the surgeon and team during procedures, providing sutures, supplies, instruments, and equipment while maintaining strict sterile technique.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited surgical technology program.
• Active certification by NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT.
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association required upon hire.
• Grandfathered status available for those with qualifying work experience and CE.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon and surgical team during procedures with sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment.
• Maintain sterile technique throughout the operation.
• Collaborate with team to optimize patient outcomes.

Education

Surgical technology program (CAAHEP/ABHES)

NBSTSA/JCAHPO/NCCT certification

Military/Public Health Service tech training + 16 hours CE biennially

Grandfathered work-experience in ASC/hospital or federal agency (2014–2017) + 16 hours CE biennially

Job description

Works closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes. Assists the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by providing the appropriate sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment. Maintains proper sterile technique during the procedure.

Required Qualifications:

• Acceptable education requirements include one of the following:
  • Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT.
  • Completion of a training program in a branch of the armed forces or in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corp and who completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
  • “Grandfathered” based on work experience in an ASC, hospital, or federal government agency between January 1, 2014 through January 1, 2017 only and who complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
