Job summary

Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician for the Operating Room. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), day shift role with four 10-hour shifts, call once per week and one weekend (48 hours) every 6-7 weekends.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES and active NBSTSA/JCAHPO/NCCT certification.
• Military or Public Health Service training with 16 hours CE every two years.
• Grandfathered experience in ASC/hospital/government with CE every two years.
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon and surgical team by providing sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment during procedures.
• Maintain proper sterile technique throughout the operating room procedures.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to support direct patient care and optimize surgical outcomes.

Education

Surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES

Active NBSTSA/JCAHPO/NCCT certification

Military/Public Health Service CE every 2 years (16 hours)

Grandfathered ASC/hospital/government experience CE every 2 years (16 hours)

$8,000 Sign-on Bonus for eligible external candidates who meet all conditions for payment - this is in addition to the benefits and compensation package offered by Providence that begin on your first day of employment.

Works closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes. Assists the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by providing the appropriate sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment. Maintains proper sterile technique during the procedure.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT.
• Completion of a training program in a branch of the armed forces or in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corp and who completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
• Grandfathered based on work experience in an ASC, hospital, or federal government agency between January 1, 2014 through January 1, 2017 and who complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
• Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
