Job summary

Providence St. Vincent Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician for Labor Delivery on a .6 FTE night shift (7pm–7:30am), with two 12-hour shifts weekly and rotating weekends.

The role includes a $4.50/hour night shift differential and access to a wide benefits package designed to support caregivers and their families. Responsibilities include direct patient care within the surgical team, assisting surgeons with instruments and supplies, and maintaining sterile technique to optimize

Qualifications

  • Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT certification.
  • Completion of a training program in the armed forces or Public Health Service Commissioned Corps with 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
  • “Grandfathered” based on ASC/hospital/federal experience between Jan 1, 2014 and Jan 1, 2017 with 16 hours CE every two years.
  • National Provider BLS - American Heart Association required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care and optimize outcomes.
  • Assists the surgeon and team during procedures by providing sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment.
  • Maintains proper sterile technique throughout the procedure.

Description
Surgical Technician - Labor Delivery at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. This posting represents a .6 FTE, night shift opening (7pm-7:30am, 2, 12 hour shifts per week) with rotating weekends.

Works closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes. Assists the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by providing the appropriate sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment. Maintains proper sterile technique during the procedure.

Required Qualifications
  • Acceptable education requirements include one of the following:
  1. Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT.
  2. Completion of a training program in a branch of the armed forces or in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corp and who completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
  3. “Grandfathered” based on work experience in an ASC, hospital, or federal government agency between January 1, 2014 through January 1, 2017 only and who complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
