Job summary

Providence Portland Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician for Labor and Delivery. This posting represents a .6 FTE with day shifts (7am-7:30pm) and two 12-hour shifts per week, rotating weekends.

You will work closely with the surgical team to provide direct patient care and assist the surgeon with sterile technique and supplies. Minimum qualifications include accredited surgical technology education and active certification, with CE requirements.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES.
• Active NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT certification upon hire.
• Military or Public Health Service commissioning program with CE requirements.
• Grandfathered by certain work experience with CE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Works closely with the surgical team to provide direct patient care.
• Assists the surgeon and team during procedures with instruments and supplies; maintains sterile technique.

Education

CAAHEP/ABHES Surgical Technology certification

NBSTSA/JCAHPO/NCCT certification active

Military/Public Health Service 16 hours CE every 2 years

Grandfathered ASC/hospital experience (2014–2017) with 16 hours CE every 2 years

Surgical Technician – Labor and Delivery at Providence Portland Medical Center. This posting represents a .6 FTE, day shift openings (7am-7:30pm, 2, 12 hour shifts per week) with rotating weekends.

Works closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes. Assists the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by providing the appropriate sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment. Maintains proper sterile technique during the procedure.

Required Qualifications:

• Acceptable education requirements include one of the following:
• Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT.
• Completion of a training program in a branch of the armed forces or in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corp and who completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
• Grandfathered based on work experience in an ASC, hospital, or federal government agency between January 1, 2014 through January 1, 2017 only and who complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
