Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Houston is seeking a Surgical Tech to support the operating room team. You will set up surgical equipment, assist the team, and keep a sterile environment to enable safe procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate General Studies and Minimum of two (2) years of surgical experience, upon hire.
• High School GED General Studies and Minimum of two (2) years of surgical experience, upon hire.
• Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire.
• Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire.
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 14 - days.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards and licensure.
• Maintains sterile field. Reports immediately any breaks in aseptic technique.
• Passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon.
• Assists with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting instrument which has been placed by the surgeon.
• Electrosurgical current may be applied as directed by the surgeon, to an established instrument placed by the surgeon.
• Performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.
