Job summary

Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a variety of procedures.

You will set up equipment and instruments, maintain a sterile field, pass supplies to the surgeon, and support the team throughout each case. This role rewards adaptability and teamwork, with an emphasis on patient safety and efficient OR turnover.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required on hire.
• Certified Surgical Technologist or equivalent certification required.
• Technologist in Surgery-Certified required on hire.
• Certified First Assistant - Certified Surgical Technologists required on hire.
• Licensed Vocational Nurse TX required on hire.
• Basic Life Support CPR required within 14 days.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards
• Maintains sterile field. Reports immediately any breaks in aseptic technique.
• Passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon.
• Assists with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting instrument.
• Electrosurgical current may be applied as directed by the surgeon.
• Performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient’s healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards
