Job summary

St. Joseph Health is seeking a Surgical Tech to assist the operating room and surgical team across Bryan/College Station, TX. You will prepare equipment, maintain sterility, and support the patient’s healing process throughout procedures.

The role requires adaptability, strong teamwork, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgeries. Relocation assistance is available for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of surgical experience.
• BLS from the American Heart Association within 14 days of hire.
• One of the following: CST or TS-C certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to standards and licensure.
• Maintains sterile field and reports breaks in aseptic technique.
• Passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon.
• Assists with retracting tissue and organs and suctioning.
• Applies electrosurgical current as directed by the surgeon.
• Performs surgical counts with the RN.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards and licensure.
• Maintains sterile field. Reports immediately any breaks in aseptic technique.
• Passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon.
• Assists with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting instrument which has been placed by the surgeon.
• Electrosurgical current may be applied as directed by the surgeon, to an established instrument placed by the surgeon.
• Performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.

Job Requirements

Required:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Two (2) years of surgical experience
• BLS from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 14 days of hire
• One of the following:
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
  • Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C)
