Job summary

St. Luke's Sugar Land Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will set up surgical equipment, assist surgeons, maintain a sterile field, and help ensure patient safety throughout procedures.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, at least two years of surgical experience, and valid CST certification (or equivalent); BLS-CPR within 14 days of hire is required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED with at least two years of surgical experience.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist or equivalent is required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Scrub assists and maintains sterile field according to standards.
• Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
• Retracts tissue/organs as directed and assists with suctioning.
• Conducts surgical counts with RN per policy.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients. Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process. To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards and licensure.
• Maintains sterile field. Reports immediately any breaks in aseptic technique.
• Passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon.
• Assists with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting instrument which has been placed by the surgeon.
• Electrosurgical current may be applied as directed by the surgeon, to an established instrument placed by the surgeon.
• Performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.
