Job summary

Shriners Children’s in Portland, OR is seeking a full-time Surgical Technologist to support our Portland team. The role focuses on high-quality patient care across intraoperative, preoperative, and postoperative phases, applying sterile technique and collaborating with the surgical team.

Ideal candidates bring aseptic practice, meticulous field preparation, and strong teamwork. CST certification is preferred; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Associate in Surgical Technology required.
• 1 year OR scrub experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains sterile field and applies infection control principles in the OR.
• Plans and directs workflow during surgical procedures.
• Anticipates intraoperative events to support surgeon and patient.
• Serves as first scrub on all surgical cases.
• Knows location and contents of Code Cart and uses contents appropriately.
• Understands responsibilities of the Surgical Tech during Code 99 scenarios.
• Ensures patient safety through sponge and sharps counts and adherence to site marking policies.
