Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix seeks a Surgical Technician to join the operating room team, preparing the environment and assisting surgeons across a range of procedures. You will set up instruments, maintain sterility, collaborate with OR staff, and support patient safety and efficient turnover while adapting quickly in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Two (2) years or less of surgical technologist clinical experience
• Graduate of Surgical Tech Program
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

• Assists circulating nurses in set up of surgical procedure according to physician preference, standards of care and hospital protocol
• Handles laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol, maintaining hospital standard of zero tolerance for mishandled specimens
• Assists the Surgeon during procedures as requested. Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies and assists in patient/equipment preparation and performs follow-up actions as directed.
• Follows policy and protocol to utilize patient restraints/safety straps and consistently demonstrates safe skill implementation and completes equipment/procedural change in-services.
• Reduce turnover times in order to increase efficiency and throughput of the department. Reports observed or reported alterations in the patient's condition to the RN or physician. Compliance with all NPSG Goals.
