Job summary

Saint Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ seeks a qualified Surgical Technician to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a variety of procedures. Daily duties include setting up equipment, assisting the team, and maintaining a sterile environment to support patient healing.

Successful candidates will have a surgical tech program diploma, be a High School Graduate, and hold American Heart Association BLS.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate
• Two (2) years or less of surgical technologist clinical experience
• Graduate of Surgical Tech Program
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support

Responsibilities

• Assists circulating nurses in set up of surgical procedure according to physician preference, standards of care and hospital protocol
• Handles laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol, maintaining hospital standard of zero tolerance for mishandled specimens
• Assists the Surgeon during procedures as requested. Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies and assists in patient/equipment preparation and performs follow-up actions as directed.
• Follows policy and protocol to utilize patient restraints/safety straps and consistently demonstrates safe skill implementation and completes equipment/procedural change in-services.
• Reduce turnover times in order to increase efficiency and throughput of the department. Reports observed or reported alterations in the patient's condition to the RN or physician. Compliance with all NPSG Goals.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Technician at St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.
