Job summary

Avera St Mary's Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist to provide high quality professional care under surgeon supervision in the surgical suites and related areas. The role includes sterile technique, instrument handling, and support across OR functions.

You will work a day shift, with occasional six-weekend/holiday/call coverage, and may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $15,000. Join a multidisciplinary team focused on moving health forward.

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certification as CST or TS-C upon hire.
• NCCT TS-C or NBSTSA CST credential is required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon within scope of competency and standards of practice; maintains infection control and sterilization.
• Rotates in SPD area cleaning and sterilizing instruments for OR, floors, ER, and clinics.
• Updates preference cards to reflect surgeon requests.
• Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, and standards of practice.
• Verifies patient identity, operative procedure, site, surgeon, and consent.
• Applies aseptic technique throughout the intraoperative period.
• Performs sponge, needle and instrument counts per policy.
• Participates in evaluating new supplies, equipment and/or instruments.
• Places equipment and arranges instruments in the operating room.

Education

Technical Certificate Graduate from an Accredited Surgical Technologist Program

Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - NBSTSA Upon Hire

Tech in Surgery (TS-C) - NCCT Upon Hire
