Job summary

The State of Georgia is seeking a Surgical Technician Clinical Coordinator to lead the Surgical Technology degree program across multiple campuses. You will design curricula, instruct in a mix of on-campus, online, and hybrid formats, and participate in college committees and accreditation activities.

You will also recruit and advise students, manage budgets, and contribute to program assessment, ensuring compliance with ARC/STSA/CAAHEP standards and NBSTSA credential requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university.
• Current CST credential through NBSTSA.
• Minimum of two years of full-time clinical experience in surgical technology in an operating room.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic technique, patient safety standards, and operating room protocols.

Responsibilities

• Teaches program-specific courses in classroom/lab/online settings.
• Evaluates student progress and provides advisement.
• Works with the Associate Dean to create course schedules.
• Ensures safety and security requirements in the discipline and supports maintenance of equipment.

Job Summary

Duties include assisting with curriculum design and development; instruction, recruitment, and advisement of students; budgeting; and management of adjunct faculty. Responsible for the ongoing development, implementation, and instruction of the Surgical Technology degree program courses across multiple campuses. Courses will be a combination of on-campus, online, or hybrid instructional delivery. Duties also include participation in college committees and participation in professional enhancement. Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives. Assists with maintaining supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Assists with preparation and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts and duties as otherwise assigned.

Instruction

• Teaches program-specific courses in a classroom/lab/online environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry while maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.
• Evaluation and advisement of students in a classroom/lab/online setting
• Works with Associate Dean to create course schedules

Safety/Technology

• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area which includes regular safety audits of each program area and lab
• Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order
• Suggests new/updated technology to remain current with trends and developments within the field.
• Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.
• Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times
• Ensure work-related projects are completed and that they meet industrial standards.

Curriculum/Student and Program Learning Outcomes

• Develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives based on state standards; prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for division-specific program courses; evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Establishes, measures, and evaluates program or departmental student learning outcomes and ensures content and instructional activities are integrated into course delivery that will result in students achieving desired outcomes, documenting their attainment and reporting within the Taskstream system.
• Correlation of clinical education with didactic education using approved curriculum format
• Responsible for development and course edits to Blackboard master course shells;
• Periodic revision and selection of course materials including textbooks, instructional supplements and aids, and online educational resources
• Review and revision of program handbooks/manuals
• Coordinates, reviews, and recommends program expenditures for program needs within established budget parameters and administrative procedures.
• Oversees program budget and approves purchase requisitions for supplies and equipment.

Accreditation/Program Assessment

• Assist the Program Director in maintaining appropriate CAAHEP ARC/STSA accreditation for the program; has current knowledge of accreditation policies and procedures
• Attends program IFCC meetings.

Supports Discipline/Division

• Assists in planning and participates in program advisory committee, ensures minutes, Plan of Work, and committee membership list are uploaded to Knightro Connect promptly.
• Assists with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
• Position may require committee and project assignments or other duties as assigned as well as day/evening/distance learning classes and activities.
• Assists the Program Director in maintaining ARC/STSA CST(NBSTSA) credential, as required by accrediting body

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time administrative/instructional position. Work load is Monday-Friday with possible evenings or weekends based on needs.

Travel

Travel to other campuses and clinical affiliates is a possibility for meetings, trainings, and professional development.

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university.
• Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).
• Minimum of two (2) years of full-time clinical experience in surgical technology in an operating room setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical procedures, aseptic technique, patient safety standards, and operating room protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a related health science, education, or leadership field.
• Previous experience serving as a Program Director, Clinical Coordinator, or lead instructor in a Surgical Technology program.
• Experience with Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA) and Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accreditation standards, self-studies, and site visits.
• 4 years teaching experience in technical education, including curriculum development and student assessment.
• Familiarity with Blackboard Ultra or other Learning Management Systems (LMS).
• Experience with clinical affiliation management, student supervision in clinical settings, and compliance documentation.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills necessary to support student success, faculty development, and program accreditation compliance.
