Job summary

CHI Health St. Mary’s is seeking a Surgical Tech to help prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a range of procedures. You will set up equipment, maintain sterility, and collaborate with the OR team to support the patient’s healing process.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist or Technologist in Surgery-Certified upon hire.
• BLS - CPR certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room and sterile field for procedures using sterile techniques.
• Sets up surgical equipment and instruments and assists the surgical team.
• Maintains aseptic practices and a sterile environment throughout procedures.
• Performs duties as scrub nurse according to patient care plan and staffing needs.
• Assists with patient care activities under RN supervision.
• Anticipates events during procedures and responds efficiently.

Job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Performs surgical technology tasks and functions that are performed with other members of the surgical team that includes:

• Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring the equipment is functioning properly and safely.

• Prepares the operating room and the sterile field for surgical procedures by preparing sterile supplies, instruments and equipment using sterile techniques.

• Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology and how it relates to the patient and surgical procedure.

• Performs tasks in the sterile field.

• Performs in the role of scrub nurse according to the plan of patient care and departmental staffing needs.

• Performs duties according to department specific expectations as identified and assigned.

• Assists with patient care activities under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.

• Anticipates usual and unexpected events during the surgical procedure and responds in an efficient manner.

• Adheres to aseptic practices providing and maintaining a safe environment.

We are offering up to $10,000 as a Sign-on Bonus as well as up to $7,000 in Educational Assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

• Certified Surgical Technologist, upon hire or

• Technologist in Surgery-Certified, upon hire and

• Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Pay Range

$25.42 - $37.82 /hour
