Job summary

CHI Health St. Mary's in Nebraska City is seeking a Surgical Tech to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across procedures. You will set up equipment, maintain sterility, and support the patient’s healing process in a fast-paced OR.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist or equivalent certification upon hire.
• Surgical technologist certification required and CPR/BLS current on hire.
• Experience preferred but not required; ability to adapt in OR.

Responsibilities

• Set up operating room and instruments; maintain sterile environment.
• Assist surgical team as scrub nurse and support patient care under RN supervision.
• Prepare sterile supplies and equipment using sterile technique.
• Anticipate events during procedures and respond efficiently.
• Uphold aseptic practices and patient safety throughout surgeries.

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team‑player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Performs surgical technology tasks and functions that are performed with other members of the surgical team that includes:
• Prepares the operating room for surgical procedures by ensuring the equipment is functioning properly and safely.
• Prepares the operating room and the sterile field for surgical procedures by preparing sterile supplies, instruments and equipment using sterile techniques.
• Demonstrates knowledge of human anatomy and pathophysiology and how it relates to the patient and surgical procedure.
• Performs tasks in the sterile field.
• Performs in the role of scrub nurse according to the plan of patient care and departmental staffing needs.
• Performs duties according to department specific expectations as identified and assigned.
• Assists with patient care activities under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.
• Anticipates usual and unexpected events during the surgical procedure and responds in an efficient manner.
• Adheres to aseptic practices providing and maintaining a safe environment.

We are offering up to $10,000 as a Sign-on Bonus as well as up to $7,000 in Educational Assistance to new hires who meet the eligibility requirements.

Pay Range
