Job summary

Children’s Colorado is seeking a Surgical Technician Apprentice to provide intra-operative technical assistance under mentorship in the Anschutz Operating Room. The role supports physicians and RNs during surgical interventions, helping with instrument prep, safety checks, and case flow.

Active enrollment in an Associate’s degree Surgical Technology program and BLS certification are required at hire; four 10-hour shifts per week, full-time with benefits, with competitive pay and opportunities

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an associates degree surgical technology program.
• BLS certification at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists with room turnovers and set-ups; restocks and orders supplies.
• Promotes patient safety by participating in surgical time-out and verifying patient details with RN.
• Selects instruments and supplies based on patient size and procedure.
• Assists with patient positioning and specimen identification.
• Monitors hazards for sharp or burn injuries.
• Safely handles bio-hazardous materials and uses PPE.
• Prepares for procedures using preference cards; scrubs cases; anticipates surgical needs.
