Job summary

Providence Medford Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician for a 1.0 FTE day shift, including weekdays and weekends. You will support the surgical team with instruments and supplies and uphold strict sterile technique to help optimize patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES and active NBSTSA/JCAHPO/NCCT certification.
• Armed forces or Public Health Service training with 16 hours CE every two years, completed.
• “Grandfathered” based on work in ASC, hospital, or federal agency between 2014-01-01 and 2017-01-01 with 16 hours CE every two years.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon and surgical team during procedures with sutures, supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintains sterile technique to support patient safety and positive outcomes.
• Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure smooth, efficient operations during the day and on weekends.

Education

CAAHEP/ABHES accredited surgical technology program with NBSTSA/JCAHPO/NCCT certification

Armed forces/Public Health Service Commissioned Corps training with 16 hours CE every two years

Grandfathered experience in ASC/hospital/government with 16 hours CE every two years

Job description

Surgical Technician at Providence Medford Medical Center is 1.0 FTE full time position working during weekdays and weekends on a day shift.

Works closely with all members of the surgical team to provide direct patient care in an effort to optimize positive surgical outcomes. Assists the surgeon and surgical team during the procedure by providing the appropriate sutures, supplies, instruments and equipment. Maintains proper sterile technique during the procedure.

Required Qualifications:

• Acceptable education requirements include one of the following:
  • 1. Completion of a surgical technology program accredited by the CAAHEP or ABHES and holds an active certification by the NBSTSA, JCAHPO, or NCCT.
  • 2. Completion of a training program in a branch of the armed forces or in the Public Health Service Commissioned Corp and who completed 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
  • 3. “Grandfathered” based on work experience in an ASC, hospital, or federal government agency between January 1, 2014 through January 1, 2017 only and who complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire.
