Job summary

St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System in Savannah, GA seeks a Scrub Technician to support the surgical team by scrubbing in, assisting with circulating duties, and preparing supplies for procedures.

The role requires adherence to AORN standards and patient-safe practices, under direct supervision of OR staff nurses. Responsibilities include maintaining instrument readiness, assisting with patient transport and prepping, and ensuring quick setup between cases while following established processes

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Prior OR experience preferred.

Job description

Scrub Technician provides patient care under the direct supervision of O.R. Staff Nurse through scrubbing surgical cases. Assist Nurse with circulating duties. to include helping to obtain the appropriate supplies, instruments, and equipment for the surgical procedure.

Education

License & Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required

Core Job Functions

Set up CDD room per guidelines for each procedure, with quick turn over times between cases.

• Seeks and maintains National certification after one year of employment and or eligibility requirements met for specific
  certification.
• Light sources, instruments and accessory equipment are consistently checked for proper functioning. Performs as an assistant to attending physician under the direction of a physician or registered nurse. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures by cleaning counters, light sources, carts, emptying suction canisters and sets up appropriate equipment for next procedure.
• Correct procedure card for supplies and instruments is identified and used. Sufficient quantities of supplies and instruments are pulled for each procedure. Case carts are completed accurately and promptly.
• Assists in room set up. Helps move/transport patients. Assists with patient prepping.
• Educates and implements AORN standards. Educates and implements environmental standards.
• Follows established processes for achievement of tasks. Keep team leader/management team informed of tasks not completed or challenges in assignments.
