A leading organization seeks a Surgical Technician to join its dynamic team. The role involves providing crucial assistance during surgeries, setting up sterile environments, and ensuring compliance with health protocols. The Surgical Technician (ST) functions as a member of the surgical team, providing assistance to the surgeon and other team members during surgical procedures. The ST participates in planning and implementing complex procedures under the general supervision of the surgical team.

To qualify, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date. For positions at GS-4 and above, specialized experience is required, involving support duties to medical or health personnel, applying knowledge, methods, and techniques relevant to the position.
For GS-07, one year of specialized experience at the GS-06 level is required, including setting up sterile fields, assisting during surgeries, handling specimens, maintaining infection control, and providing courteous customer service. Education can substitute for experience: a full year of graduate education (18 semester hours or equivalent) related to the position, or a combination of education and experience totaling 100%. A transcript must be submitted if education is used for qualification.
Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer work, and service through programs like Peace Corps or AmeriCorps, which help develop relevant skills.
Work Schedule: Variable shifts, typically Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, or four 10-hour shifts from 7:00 am - 5:30 pm, totaling 40 hours per week.
Physical Requirements: Manual assistance in lifting and positioning patients, extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, reaching, and stretching. Dexterity in passing instruments without compromising aseptic principles is essential.
