Job summary

Methodist Hospital Hill Country in Fredericksburg, Texas, seeks a Certified Surgical Technician PRN to assist in delivering high-quality surgical care. You will coordinate with perioperative staff, prepare sterile equipment and supplies, and ensure safety and asepsis throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include instrument handling, maintaining sterile fields, and supporting the surgical team under RN direction. Certification details and HB 643 compliance are noted for eligible applicants.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a surgical technologist program, or hospital experience prior to 09/01/2009.
• Certified: CST through NBSTSA or TS-C through NCCT.
• If not certified, no license/certification required in Sterile Processing; other depts may require certification per HB 643.

Responsibilities

• Plan and obtain equipment and supplies for procedures per physician preference.
• Prepare equipment and supplies according to manufacturer specs.
• Open sterile packs and maintain aseptic technique for each procedure.
• Monitor sterile field and take corrective action as needed.
• Prepare medications under RN direction per physician orders.
• Maintain accountability for instruments, sponges and sharps per hospital policy.
