Job summary

Larkin Community Hospital is seeking a Surgical Tech for pool staffing in the South Miami, FL area. The technician will organize operating room supplies, set up sterile tables, assist surgeons and staff, and help with instrument counts and preparation of dressings.

The role requires two years of OR/acute care experience, completion of a Surgical Technician course, and a current BLS certification. A cooperative attitude toward staff and patients is essential.

Responsibilities

• Organizes supplies and equipment in the operating room.
• Sets up sterile tables and anticipates needs during procedures.
• Assists with gowns/gloves, hands instruments to surgeon, and counts instruments.
• Prepares sterile dressings and cleans instruments after operations.
• Assists with cleaning the OR after operations and patient transfer to recovery.
• Ensures proper care and use of surgical instruments.

Description:

The Surgical Technician is responsible for organizing the supplies and equipment in the operating room. Sets up the operating surgeon’s sterile table trying to anticipate what might be needed during the procedure. Helps the surgeon and any assistants do their surgical gowns and gloves. Counts surgical instruments before and after the surgery. Hands the desired instruments to the surgeon during the operation. Prepares the sterile dressings. Cleans the surgical instruments after the operation. Assists with cleaning the operating room after an operation. May assist with the transfer of the patient to the recovery room. Responsible for ensuring proper care and use of surgical instruments.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of two years’ experience in an OR setting, acute care, or have outpatient experience.
• Completion of Surgical Technician course
• BLS certification required.
• Cooperative work attitude toward co-employees, management, patients, visitors, and physicians.
