Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Pool Surgical Technician 1 to support surgical and endoscopy procedures at the Brooksville site. The role includes assembling and caring for surgical supplies, ensuring sterility, and restocking the surgical suite.

• Technical Program Surgical Technologist or Technical Program Licensed Practical Nurse Program.
• 5 years of progressive surgical tech experience.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical and endoscopy procedures and prepare supplies and equipment.
• Assemble, care for and restock surgical instruments and equipment.
• Maintain sterile technique and report any issues to the RN or Clinician.
• Serve as a clinical preceptor for OR scrub tech and OR technician students.
• Support five surgical specialty areas as a resource person.

Description

Under general supervision of medical and nursing staff, following policies, procedures and professional guidelines, assists with surgical and endoscopy procedures, provides, assembles and cares for surgical supplies, instruments and equipment before, during and after procedures. Assists with cleaning, restocking and processing of the surgical suite, instruments and equipment as needed. Identifies and reports situations requiring intervention to the RN or Clinician. Serves as a clinical preceptor for new OR scrub tech and OR technician students and serves as a resource person in at least five surgical specialty areas. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

Education

• Technical Program Surgical Technologist or Technical Program Licensed Practical Nurse Program

Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Certified Surgical Technologists through National Board of Surgical Technology or Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or

Certified Surgical Technologists through Association of Surgical Technologist (AST) or

Certified Surgical Technologists through National Certified Surgical Technician (NCST)

Work Experience
