Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively.
• Basic knowledge of aseptic/sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.
• Knowledge of healthcare industry concepts and procedures.
• Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies for hand surgeons.
• Regulatory requirements and laws at various jurisdictional levels.
• Ability to understand surgeon directions and follow instructions.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Strong communication, anticipatory skills and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with assembling mechanical devices and anatomy basics.
• Team-oriented with flexibility to adapt to changes.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and informs circulating nurse during procedures.
• Maintains high standards for cost savings and containment.
• Assembles supplies, equipment, and medications before procedures.
• Supports satisfaction activities and maintains good relationships with team.
• Monitors aseptic technique and corrects any breaks in protocol.
• Reports environmental concerns and ensures regulatory adherence.
• Supervises and trains new staff in the surgical environment.
• Promotes safety and manages emergencies to protect patients and staff.
• Follows infection control practices and PPE usage.
• Contributes to performance improvement and quality initiatives.
• Assists with OR turnover and directs room personnel as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
