Job summary

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital in Grass Valley, CA is seeking a Surgical Technician to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a variety of procedures. You will set up instruments, ensure sterility, and support the team throughout operations.

Ideal candidates bring vocational training in surgical technology, 1–3 years of experience or equivalent, BLS certification, and, ideally, acute care experience or CST credential.

Qualifications

• Vocational school graduate with surgical technician training.
• 1–3 years of surgical tech experience or military equivalent.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Preferred: 1–3 years acute care experience.
• Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and assembles operating room with appropriate instruments, supplies and equipment necessary for individual procedures.
• Utilizes the surgeons preference cards to ensure availability of appropriate equipment and supplies.
• Follows standard of practice relating to sterilization of equipment, gowning, gloving and opening of sterile supplies.
• Assists in draping of patient for procedure.
• Maintains an orderly instrument table and/or mayo tray for the purpose of efficiency.
• Anticipates equipment/supplies needed by surgeon/assist intraoperatively.
