Qualifications

• BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• At least 6 months Surgical Tech experience required.
• Knowledge of operating room equipment, instrumentation, and furniture.
• Knowledge of operating room sanitation.
• Knowledge of aseptic technique.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and terminology.
• Strong communication with staff to obtain/provide information.
• Ability to work cooperatively with peers and adjust to department needs.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and set up surgical instrumentation and equipment according to department standards and surgeon preference cards.
• Maintain a sterile field and ensure all surgical instruments and supplies are ready and functioning properly.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures, providing instruments and supplies promptly.
• Implement and adhere to aseptic techniques, including practices to prevent retained foreign objects and ensure safe medication labeling and handling.
• Handle specimens safely and in accordance with established protocols.
• Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current with best practices and technological advancements.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
