Job summary

METHODIST MANSFIELD MEDICAL CENTER is seeking a Surgical Technician II Certified to support a fast-paced surgical team. You will understand the procedures, ensure instruments, supplies, and equipment are ready, anticipate the surgeon’s needs, and assist during operations.

The role requires CST certification, a high school diploma, and formal surgical technology training, BLS, and experience with multiple specialties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent.
• 1) Graduate of certified Surgical Technologist program, military trained, or AD in Surgical Technology preferred.
• 3) Basic Life Support certified.
• 4) Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
• 5) Must have advanced competencies in a minimum of 3 specialties.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate needs of the surgical team and obtain instrumentation and supplies for the procedure.
• 2) Pass instruments to surgeon and assistant during procedure.
• 3) Assist with terminal cleaning of room and preparation for the following case.
• 4) Begin cleaning up back table and preparing instruments for terminal cleaning and sterilization as circulator prepares patient to leave the room.
• 5) Place instruments back in the tray for transport to SPD.
• 6) Responsible for knowing and adhering to all policy and procedures such as count policy, universal protocol and labeling of medications, etc.
• 7) Work with students and inexperienced staff on correct method for passing and retrieving instruments during surgical procedures.
