Job summary

Brookwood Baptist Health in Birmingham, AL seeks a Surgical Tech II for a full-time role in the Main Operating Room. The ideal candidate demonstrates sterile technique and a working knowledge of specialized instrumentation for various procedures.

Responsibilities include maintaining an orderly surgical field, assisting the surgeon with instruments, and ensuring accurate counts and specimen handling. Two years of experience preferred; CST may substitute. BLS certification required.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; completion of a Surgical Technology training program or Orlando Health training program.
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
• Two years surgical tech experience (CST certification may substitute for the two years of experience).

Responsibilities

• Reviews preference and verifies case cart completely prior to case.
• Maintains orderly surgical field and passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon efficiently.
• Anticipates and prioritizes needs for the procedure steps.
• Takes part in sponge, needle and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
• Maintains surgical specimens for pathology evaluation.
• Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under department guidelines.
• Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications throughout the facility.
• Maintains regular attendance in line with policies.
