Job summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is seeking a Surgical Tech for PRN daytime coverage in the Main OR. The role requires a solid understanding of sterile technique and proficiency with the instrumentation needed for a variety of procedures.

Education options include Surgical Technology program, Baptist Health Training Program, or an accredited physician assistant program, with current BLS certification. Prior experience is not required, but strong reliability is expected.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a Surgical Technology training program; or Baptist Health Training Program; or an accredited physician assistant program.
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Responsibilities

• Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart before the procedure.
• Maintains an orderly surgical field and passes instruments quickly to the surgeon.
• Anticipates and prioritizes needs of the procedure steps.
• Participates in counts of sponge, needle, and instruments as dictated by the procedure.
• Maintains surgical specimens for pathology evaluation.
• Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies as directed.
• Transports and delivers items and medications throughout the facility.
• Maintains regular attendance and compliance with policies.

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital is looking for a Surgical Techposition workingas needed (PRN) during the Day, in our Main OR.The Surgical Tech demonstrates a clear understanding of sterile techniques and maintains a working knowledge of the specialized instrumentation and equipment required for a variety of special procedures.

Responsibilities

• Reviews preferences and verifies the case cart thoroughly before the procedure.
• Maintains an orderly surgical field and consistently passes instruments and supplies quickly and efficiently to the surgeon.
• Anticipates and prioritizes the needs of the various steps associated with the procedure.
• Takes part in sponge, needle, and instrument counts as dictated by the procedure.
• Maintains surgical specimens in a manner that identifies and preserves them for pathology evaluation.
• Assists in ordering and stocking specialty supplies under the direction of management staff and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
• Transports and delivers items, equipment, and medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
• May have limited access to areas where medications are stored.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of:
  • Surgical Technology training program; or
  • Baptist Health Training Program; or
  • An accredited physician assistant program

Licensure/Certification

• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
