Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Associate degree or equivalent required; or 1 year of equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience preferred (clinical rotations count).
• BLS/CPR certification (AHA or ARC) within 90 days of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and prepare the surgical suite and sterile field.
• Assist intraoperatively with instruments and changing conditions during procedures.
• May serve as a preceptor as needed.

About this unit

Twenty-five operating rooms perform a vast variety of operative procedures/surgical specialties including Trauma and Open-Heart Surgery Programs. The department provides elective and emergency surgery Monday - Sunday, 24 hours per day. Rotating call, holiday, and weekend assignments.

Scope of work

The Surgical Technologist II will be responsible for maintaining and preparing the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, and making appropriate responses as needed. Responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and protocols. May serve as a preceptor as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent Required
• Not all schools require an associate degree Or 1 year of equivalent experience Required
• Minimum of 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience) Preferred
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of hire Required
