Eisenhower is seeking a dedicated Scrub Tech to support EDOSC Surgery in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role prepares supplies, maintains the sterile field, passes instruments to surgeons, and readies used instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization.

Required: high school diploma or GED and completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program; BLS is mandatory, CST certification preferred. 10-hour shifts, day rotation, full-time schedule.

Qualifikationen

• American Heart Association BLS certification required; CST certification preferred.
• Experience as a Surgical Technologist in an acute multi-specialty environment preferred.

• Maintains aseptic technique per Surgical Services procedures.
• Anticipates surgeon’s needs; procures supplies before case start.
• Keeps instrument table and sterile field organized.
• Verifies and labels medications with nurse on the back table.
• Maintains accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with nurse.
• Identifies surgical specimens and transfers to the nurse.
• Prepares instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization.
• Assists with putting away supplies and room turnover.
• Contributes to surgical start times and cost-effective use of supplies.
• Remains current with intraoperative techniques through education.
• Participates in department projects; adheres to scope of practice.
• May be required to work at alternate sites.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Performs the duties of a scrub person; prepares supplies for case, sets up and maintains the sterile field, passes instruments and supplies to the surgeon, readies used instruments for the cleaning and re-sterilization process.

Education:

Licensure/Certification:

Required: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)

Preferred: Certification as a Surgical Technologist

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information, Ability to scrub for basic procedures without assistance within assigned area(s) after ninety (90) days of hire, Critical thinking skills, Knowledge of the surgical environment regarding traffic patterns and contamination of the sterile field

Essential Responsibilities

1. 1. Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
2. 2. Maintains aseptic technique according to the policies and procedures of Surgical Services.
3. 3. Anticipates surgeon's needs by reviewing preference card, procuring appropriate supplies prior to start of case and remaining attentive to the progression of the case.
4. 4. Maintains orderly instrument table and surgical field.
5. 5. Verifies and labels medications and irrigations on the back table with nurse.
6. 6. Maintains and documents accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the nurse.
7. 7. Accurately identifies surgical specimen and transfers to the nurse.
8. 8. Prepares instruments for cleaning and re-sterilization.
9. 9. Assists with putting away supplies and room turnover.
10. 10. Contributes to maximum efficiency of the surgical line up in order to adhere to surgical start times.
11. 11. Contributes to cost effectiveness by using judgement when opening and using supplies.
12. 12. Remains current with new intraoperative techniques and equipment through participation in unit based and continuing education.
13. 13. Participates in department projects.
14. 14. Accepts responsibilities only within scope of practice.
15. 15. May be required to work at alternate sites.
16. 16. Performs other duties as assigned.
