Qualifications

• Certification by NBSTA, JCAHPO or NCCT as Surgical Technologist.
• Education through a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program.
• Military qualification may substitute CST with 16 hours CE every 2 years.
• Current Surgical Tech First Assist certification from an accredited institution.
• BLS required; ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• Prefer at least two years of experience as Surgical Scrub Tech First Assist.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgeon and surgical team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Acquire necessary knowledge and skills for the expanded role of Scrub Tech First Assistant.
• Maintain aseptic practices and supply equipment based on patient and surgeon needs.
• Intraoperatively, perform duties as directed by the surgeon.

Job Summary:

• Collaboration with the surgeon and surgical team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.


• Must acquire the necessary knowledge, judgement, and skills specific to the expanded role of Scrub Tech First Assistant


• Must use aseptic practice and be able to provide equipment and supplies based on patient and surgeon needs.


• Intraoperatively, the Surgical Tech First Assist practices at the direction of the surgeon.

Qualifications:

• Current certification by the NBSTA, JCAHPO or NCCT as a Surgical Technologist.


• Education completed at a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited education program.


• Military qualification as a Surgical Technologist may be substituted for CST certification with 16 hours of continuing education every two years.


• Must maintain certifications throughout duration of employment
