McKenzie-Willamette Medical Center seeks a Surgical Tech First Assist with collaboration alongside the surgeon and team to optimize patient outcomes. The role extends the traditional scrub tech responsibilities and requires aseptic practice, equipment provisioning, and intraoperative support as directed by the surgeon.

Qualifications

• Certification by NBSTA, JCAHPO or NCCT as Surgical Technologist.
• Education through a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program.
• Military qualification may substitute CST with 16 hours CE every 2 years.
• Current Surgical Tech First Assist certification from an accredited institution.
• BLS required; ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
• Prefer at least two years of experience as Surgical Scrub Tech First Assist.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgeon and surgical team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Acquire necessary knowledge and skills for the expanded role of Scrub Tech First Assistant.
• Maintain aseptic practices and supply equipment based on patient and surgeon needs.
• Intraoperatively, perform duties as directed by the surgeon.

Education

NBSTA/JCAHPO/NCCT CST certification

CAAHEP or ABHES accredited program

Military qualification as Surgical Technologist (with CE)

Surgical Tech First Assist certification

BLS certification

ACLS within 6 months of hire
