Job summary

BayCare seeks a Surgical Tech First Assistant to join the pool of skilled OR professionals. The role supports the surgeon by providing exposure, maintaining homeostasis, and other technical functions during operations.

Shift is 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM with on-call duties; requires BLS, high school diploma, and 3 years' surgical tech experience or 2 years as First Assistant in Main OR. BayCare emphasizes teamwork, ongoing development, and a strong patient-first culture.

Description

Position Description: Surgical Technologist First Assistant

• As defined by the American College of Surgeons, Surgical Assistants (SAs) are trained individuals who are able to participate in, and actively assist the surgeon in, completing the operation safely and expeditiously by helping to provide exposure, maintain homeostasis, and other technical functions

Status: Pool, Exempt: No

Shift Hours: 6:30am - 5:00pm

On Call: Yes

Requirements:

• High School or Equivalent - Required
• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) with the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. - Required
• Minimum of 3 years experience as a Surgical Tech OR 2-years Surgical Technologist First Assistant - Main OR experience. - Required
