Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Surgical Technologist Extern to assist in sterile preparation and be an integral part of the operating room team. You will work under supervision before, during and after surgeries, ensuring sterility and contributing to direct patient care in the OR.

Requires current BLS certification and enrollment in an accredited Surgical Technologist program; PRN shifts offered, with a bi-weekly minimum of 12 hours, based on department needs.

Qualifications

• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist with room duties involved with direct patient care in the OR.
• Function as a member of the operating room team under supervision of a Surgical Technician or Scrub Nurse.
