Job summary

Memorial Satilla Health in Waycross, GA is seeking a Surgical Technologist Extern for a PRN role. You will gain hands-on surgical experience by assisting the team under the Circulating RN and experienced staff, contributing to patient safety and efficient OR operations.

The extern will help organize the OR, assist with patient care around surgery, and maintain a sterile environment. Qualifications include CLS within 30 days of start, a HS diploma or GED, and an Associate Degree or certificate.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• High School Graduate / GED.
• Associate Degree, or Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Organize and stock the operating room with instruments, supplies, and equipment to ensure each procedure is fully prepared and supported.
• Assist with patient care before, during, and after surgery, including transport, positioning, and comfort.
• Support the surgical team during procedures by managing sterile instruments, passing tools, and helping with counts and equipment during procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and sterile environment through room turnover, restocking, and infection control practices.
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, families, and team members while protecting patient privacy and safety.
