Job summary

The Operating Room Technologist (ORT) at Carroll Hospital, part of LifeBridge Health, assists in operative procedures by preparing sterile instruments and maintaining aseptic technique. You will support the surgeon, anticipate needs, and help deliver instrumentation to the sterile field during cases.

Qualified candidates have 1–3 years of experience, are Certified Surgical Technologists, and hold Basic Life Support certification.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of OR experience
• HS/GED preferred
• Certified Surgical Technologist and Basic Life Support required

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile instruments and supplies for operative procedures.
• Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout cases.

Job description

Summary:
The Operating Room Technologist (ORT) is responsible for performing the duties of a scrub tech and assists in the operative procedure by case preparation of sterile instruments and supplies, by maintaining strict aseptic technique, by supporting the surgeon throughout the case by anticipating needs as they arise and acting accordingly by following hospital policies and guidelines supported by AORN standards of care to provide safety focused care for each patient. The ORT has knowledge and skill in maintaining the sterile field, interacting with the surgical team to obtain and deliver necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment in an efficient and timely manner. The ORT properly cares for instrumentation both during and after the case, including proper decontamination and proper care and return of equipment and supplies. The ORT has the ability to observe and obtain information, understand the range of treatment needed by the patients, and report significant findings to the appropriate team members to ensure that the appropriate care is provided to each patient on an individualized basis. The ORT reports directly to the Clinical Manager of Surgical Services. The ORT ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with the mission statement and SPIRIT values of Carroll Hospital Center.

Pay Range: $30.00 to $30.00
