Job summary

Cynet HealthStaff is seeking a Surgical Tech for a 13-week cardiovascular surgery assignment in New Jersey. Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a Cardiac Operating Room required.
• Must hold Surgical Technician Certificate and BLS-AHA certification.
• Prior experience with cardiac procedures and instruments is essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean and handle instruments following standard policies.
• Maintain instrument setup records and standardize surgeon pref preferences.
• Care for and organize instrumentation; return to decontamination area after use.
• Maintain counts of sponges, needles, and instruments; label medications as required.
• Assist with specimen handling and comply with OR policies and procedures.
• Oversee decontamination, disinfection, sterilization, and sanitation of equipment.
• Participate in team conferences; contribute to care planning and revisions.
• Maintain skills proficiency checklist; scrub or circulate as assigned.
• Lift at least 50 lbs, push/pull 400 lbs; stand for entire shift.

Description:The Cardiovascular Surgical Tech is responsible for cleaning and handling instruments following standard policies while maintaining updated records.Follows policy in standardization of set-ups and utilization of surgeon preference.Assumes responsibility for the care and proper handling of instruments by neatly organizing all instrumentation before returning to the decontamination room.Returns all clean supplies to designated areas.Maintains count of sponges, needles, instruments, and administers and labels medications according to established policy.Handles specimens according to Operating Room policy and procedures.Controls contamination and provides for decontamination, disinfections, sterilization, and sanitation of instruments and equipment.Removes used equipment and properly disposes of contaminated needles and syringes at the end of procedures.Participates in team conferences to plan care and evaluates the effectiveness of patient care.Assists in revising the plan of care.Maintains skills proficiency checklist up to date by checking off equipment and cases, circulating, or scrubbing when rotated through specialty areas.Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 400 lbs., and stands for the length of the shift.Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs.Communicates with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level.Adheres to the standards identified in the Organizational Competencies.
