Qualifications

• Must have 2 years’ recent experience in a cardiac operation room.
• NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician.
• Able to scrub and circulate in surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assist the surgical team during operations from the scrub position.
• Maintain sterile technique and safe handling of instruments.

CVOR Surgical Technologist

Assignment Length: 13 weeks with possible extension

Hours per Week: 36 or 48

Schedule: Days

Cardiac OR Surgical Technologist

36 or 48hr/wk, DEN rotation, weekends, holidays and on call per unit need

Job Duties:

• The Adult Cardiac OR cares for a wide variety of patients. CABG's, TAVI's and Heart Failure (VAD's, ECMO, Artificial Heart and Heart Transplants) just to name a few.
• Using a multidisciplinary approach, the OR staff cares for patients of all ages.
• The Surgical Technologist will provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical procedures and assist the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation.
• Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases.
• Maintains sterile technique, safe handling of sharps and performance of surgical counts as per hospital policy.
• Demonstrates proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under direction of a registered nurse.
• Must have 2 years’ recent experience in a cardiac operation room.

Job Requirements:

• NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician
• Two (2) years or recent experience in a cardiac OR
• Able to scrub and circulate

• BLS (American Heart Association ONLY)
