Job summary

AdventHealth in Parker, Colorado is seeking a PRN Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will anticipate surgeon needs, assemble supplies and medications, and uphold aseptic standards to protect patients and staff.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, CST certification, and BLS. You will work with physicians and managers to maintain quality, safety, and efficient patient turnover in a faith-based health system.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv (Required).
• Technical/Vocational School training.
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) - RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement.
• State Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) - EV Accredited Issuing Body.
• Technician in Surgery - Certified (NTSC) - EV Accredited Issuing Body.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and informs the circulating nurse throughout a procedure.
• Maintains high standards to facilitate cost savings and containment.
• Assembles all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure.
• Supports customer and employee satisfaction; maintains relationships with physicians and staff; responds to complaints promptly.
• Monitors aseptic technique and corrects any breaks in technique.
• Supervises other team members and assists with orientation and training.
• Promotes a safe environment and acts in emergencies to control hazards.
• Follows infection control practices and participates in performance improvement activities.
• Assists the team with OR turnover and directs ancillary personnel during turnover.

Job Description:

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and keeps the circulating nurse informed throughout a procedure.
• Maintains high standards and quality in facilitating cost savings and containment.
• Assembles all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure.
• Supports customer and employee satisfaction activities; maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff; and responds to complaints in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team and takes immediate corrective action for any breaks in technique.
• Identifies and reports environmental concerns to management and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies.
• Supervises other healthcare team members in the surgical environment and assists with orientation, training, and education of new personnel.
• Promotes a safe environment and takes appropriate action in emergency situations, controlling hazards that may endanger patients, visitors, and employees.
• Follows CDC isolation guidelines, uses PPE appropriately, and performs hand washing according to policy, adhering to all infection control practices.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports departmental quality standards and initiatives.
• Provides assistance and support to members of the surgical team as needed.
• Assists the team with safe and efficient operating room turnover times and directs ancillary personnel during room turnover.

Pay Range: $24.45 - $45.46
