Job summary

UK HealthCare in Lexington, KY seeks a Surgical Technologist to join the Center for Advanced Surgery. Primary duties include passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting with surgical counts and setup.

Shift is Monday–Friday, 7:00 am–3:30 pm with late calls; requires HS completion and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program or equivalent certification. Experience is not required, but licensure/certification as required by NBSTSA/CAAHEP/ABHES is expected.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have completed a CAAHEP/ABHES accredited program or equivalent.
• HS high school diploma required.
• Eligible for CST/technologist certification or LPN path as alternative.
• Graduate from a recognized surgical technology program and certified or eligible for relevant credentialing.

Responsibilities

• Pass surgical instruments in the operating room.
• Maintain sterile field and assist with surgical case counts.
• Prepare supplies/instruments and ensure completeness and working order.
• Open/prepare room and maintain sterile field until patient exits.
• Pass instruments to surgeons and anticipate needs.
• Monitor sterile technique and correct breaks.
• Perform instrument counts per policy.
