Job summary

Advocate Health Care is hiring a Surgical Technologist for the 3rd shift in the Surgery Department. The role involves scrub duties, assisting physicians, and maintaining sterile fields throughout procedures. This full-time position requires CST certification within three months and on-call availability.

You must be able to lift up to 35 pounds and work rotating holidays. Graduate of a surgical technologist program or 2 years of scrub experience is expected, with CPR certification and ability to

Qualifications

• CPR certification is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification to be obtained within 3 months of employment.
• Willingness to work with exposures to body fluids, waste, chemicals, radiation, hazardous materials, anesthesia gases and infectious diseases.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile field and maintain sterility before and during procedures.
• Assist the physician by suctioning, sponging, retracting, and cutting sutures as instructed.
• Verify instrument and supply readiness per physician preference card.
• Open sterile supplies and assist with cleanup and turnover after cases.
• Support a safe work environment and participate in safety initiatives.
