Job summary

Tampa General Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Surgical Tech 3 for Open Heart procedures at the Brooksville location.

The role supports surgical and endoscopy cases, prepares and maintains instruments and equipment, and aids in keeping the surgical suite ready before and after procedures. The candidate should have 5 years of progressive surgical tech experience, BLS certification, and relevant technical education.

Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical tech or LPN technical program.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive surgical tech experience.
• CVOR experience preferred.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical and endoscopy procedures.
• Provide, assemble and care for surgical supplies, instruments and equipment.
• Assist with cleaning, restocking and processing of the surgical suite.
• Identify and report situations requiring intervention to the RN or Clinician.
• Serve as a clinical preceptor for new OR scrub tech and OR technician students.
• Serve as a resource in at least five surgical specialty areas.

Description

Under general supervision of medical and nursing staff, following policies, procedures and professional guidelines, assists with surgical and endoscopy procedures, provides, assembles and cares for surgical supplies, instruments and equipment before, during and after procedures. Assists with cleaning, restocking and processing of the surgical suite, instruments and equipment as needed. Identifies and reports situations requiring intervention to the RN or Clinician. Serves as a clinical preceptor for new OR scrub tech and OR technician students and serves as a resource person in at least five surgical specialty areas. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

Education

• Technical Program Surgical Technologist or Technical Program Licensed Practical Nurse Program

Certification

Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Certified Surgical Technologists through National Board of Surgical Technology or Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or

Certified Surgical Technologists through Association of Surgical Technologist (AST) or

Certified Surgical Technologists through National Certified Surgical Technician (NCST)

Work Experience

5 years of progressive surgical tech experience

CVOR experience preferred
