Job summary

AdventHealth in Manchester, Kentucky is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support sterile technique and instrument handling for procedures. You will assist surgeons, prepare sterile fields, and ensure counts are accurate throughout operations.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, maintain high standards of sterile practice, and participate in room turnover and terminal sterilization. Must hold a Surgical Technology credential and CPR certification.

Qualifications

  • Provide patient care addressing physical, psychosocial, educational and safety needs of all age groups served.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication with team members and patients.
  • Show validated skills in sterile technique and sterile field setup.
  • Display knowledge of instrument handling, preparation and counts for procedures.
  • Adhere to sterilization techniques and proper equipment setup.

Responsibilities

  • Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures and prepares sterile table.
  • Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants; assists with draping and passes instruments.
  • Maintains sterile technique throughout procedures and handles specimens accurately.
  • Performs counts with circulator prior to incision and before closing.
  • Prepares dressings and cleans instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Assists with room cleaning and prep for next patient; responds to emergencies.
  • Complies with standards and participates in patient safety practices.

Job Description
  • Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Scrubs, gowns, and gloves for surgical procedures.
  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures, displaying knowledge of procedure and patient positioning.
  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed.
  • Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants.
  • Helps in draping sterile field.
  • Passes instruments and supplies to surgeon during procedures.
  • Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
  • Prepares sterile dressings and cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
  • Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping for the next patient.
  • Handles surgical specimens with 100% accuracy.
  • Recognizes and responds immediately to emergency situations appropriately.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care which addresses the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety age appropriate needs of the patient populations served within the department. [Required]
