Job summary

The Heart Hospital - Plano is seeking a Surgical Support Technician to help ensure smooth operations in the surgery suites. You will prepare spaces before surgeries, manage turnover after procedures, and ensure necessary supplies are available, supporting clinicians both inside and outside the OR.

This role requires completing basic responsibilities such as maintaining inventory, auditing case carts, and assisting with sterile supplies, with a shift from 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM, five days a week,

Qualifications

• Education requirement: HS diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: less than 1 year in a healthcare or related role.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Clean surfaces and equipment in the OR; decontaminate after surgery and dispose of waste safely.
• Transport patients, lab samples, and supplies as needed for procedures.
• Manage inventory: monitor levels, restock supplies, and place orders.
• Check supplies for surgeries and audit case carts based on doctor preferences.
• Open sterile supplies for procedures under clinician supervision.
• Assist with surgical prep and instrument set checks; perform flash sterilization tests.
• React to emergencies, follow procedures, and complete on-call duties.
