Job summary

Mercy in Missouri is seeking a perioperative support team member to assist with individualized patient care under supervision. You will work within a collaborative team to help patients reach their highest wellness level and perform clinical and non-clinical tasks that support safe, quality care.

Role requires a high school diploma; BLS is required (or obtainable within 90 days). CNA may be required depending on location.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications: BLS required or may obtain within 90 days of hire; CNA may be required per location of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists in individualized patient care under the direction of the perioperative leader.
• Works cooperatively with others as part of a team to achieve patient wellness and safety.
• Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.
• Follows Mercy safety, confidentiality, and patient rights/regulations; participates in infection prevention practices.
• Utilizes unit-specific technology to perform daily tasks and maintain communications.

• Other: Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties

Safety/Risk Management:

• Follows Mercy policy and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and patient rights/regulations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection prevention techniques.
• Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment: ex: Fall Precautions; Restraint Management; Patient Identification; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies; Safe Patient Handling
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.

Technology:

• Utilizes unit specific technology to perform daily tasks and maintain appropriate communications (ex: computer, pagers, zone phones, Rover, etc.).
