Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City seeks a surgical technician to support operating room activities and patient care. The role involves assisting in the perioperative environment, performing designated procedures, and working as part of a clinical team.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of clinical hospital experience and BLS certification. OR experience is preferred and CNA certification may be required depending on location.

Position Details

Location: Mercy Hospital - Oklahoma City (W Memorial Rd)

Shift: Full Time (36 hours/week)

Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts/week

Overview

Under the direction of the perioperative leader, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient’s highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience: One-year clinical experience within a hospital may be required per location of employment.
• Preferred Experience: One year OR experience.
• Certifications: BLS required or may obtain within 90 days of hire. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) may be required per location of employment.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.

Safety/Risk Management

• Follows Mercy policy and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and patient rights/regulations.
• Demonstrates knowledge of and practices sound infection prevention techniques.
• Assesses safety needs and provides for a safe environment: ex: Fall Precautions; Restraint Management; Patient Identification; Unit/Departmental Specific Policies; Safe Patient Handling .
• Participates in Quality Improvement activities that ensure and enhance quality of patient care.

Technology

• Utilizes unit specific technology to perform daily tasks and maintain appropriate communications (ex: computer, pagers, zone phones, Rover, etc.).
