Job summary

Banner Health's Torrington Community Hospital is seeking a Surgical/Sterile Processing Technician for a PRN role. You will scrub procedures across Orthopedic, General, OB/GYN, Urology, and ENT, and work as an endoscopy tech in central sterile processing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge and current basic life support certification.
• Requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain professional decorum in highly stressful emergent situations.
• Must be conscientious, organized, and able to respond quickly to the needs of the surgeon and patient.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, patient-related supplies, materials, equipment, aseptic and sterilization techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for surgical procedures by pulling instruments and supplies and ensuring proper working order.
• Anticipate the surgeon's needs and pass instruments during surgery.
• Maintain aseptic technique and proper handling of sharps, sponges, and instruments throughout procedures.
• Decontaminate, assemble, and package instruments following protocols; prepare replacement parts as needed.
• Assemble instrument trays and power equipment sets; inspect for damage and sort for repair or storage.
• Communicate equipment needs and instrument availability to OR staff during procedures.
• Operate washers, ultrasonic cleaners, cart washers, and related decontamination equipment; maintain clean, safe environment.
• Assist with OR turnover and anesthesia support; stock and replenish supplies; clean operating rooms.
• Follow safety procedures for labeling medications, specimen handling, and time-out/radiation safety.
