Overview

The Spring Mill Surgery Center, located in Carmel, Indiana, has been recognized by Newsweek for two consecutive years as a premier eye surgery center. Situated on the north side of Indianapolis, our outpatient facility features six fully equipped, state-of-the-art operating rooms and one laser room, supporting advanced surgical procedures. Our skilled surgeons specialize in various ophthalmology fields. We prioritize work-life balance by offering no scheduled weekends, minimal on-call duties, and a maximum of one holiday per year.

Position Details

This is a day shift position, working either 4 days of 10 hours (7:00 am - 5:30 pm) or 5 days of 8 hours (7:00 am - 3:30 pm). The role requires call on Saturdays (7:00 am - 2:00 pm) and participation in one major holiday rotation per year.

Responsibilities

1. Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures.
2. Assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation.
3. Assist the surgeon in the operating room as permitted by professional and legal standards.
4. Assist in the turnover of the operating room after procedures, ensuring proper routing and processing of specimens, equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
5. Work collaboratively as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
• Ability to resource advanced technology.
• Completion of 15 continuing education units annually, as required by state law.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures within 12 months of employment to anticipate surgeon needs and recognize problems.
• Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation functions.
• Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding sterile field maintenance.
