Bloomington Hospital L&D is seeking a part-time Surgical Technologist for night shifts (2 shifts, 6:30pm-7:00am; alternating weeks with 3 shifts, 6:30pm-7:00am). Weekend and holiday rotation required as part of the schedule. The role supports OB operating suites and NICU operations as part of the OR team.

You will assist in ensuring proper setup of surgical equipment, instrument turnover, and collaboration with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to maintain high standards of patient care.

Formación

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist within four months of employment.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• Ability to access and use advanced operating room technology.
• 24/7 staffing considerations and on-call availability optional.
• Must maintain sterile field compliance and adhere to safety regulations.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in preparing the operating room with instruments, supplies, and equipment for procedures.
• Support the surgeon and OR team before, during, and after operations.
• Facilitate turnover of the OR and proper routing/processing of specimens, equipment, and supplies.

Overview

With an on-site Sterile Processing Department (SPD), we benefit from quick and efficient access to essential supplies and equipment, while having the added support of our main operating room team when needed. We’re one of the few facilities that provides 24/7 coverage with a Certified Surgical Technologist, without requiring mandatory on-call shifts—though the option is available for those who desire it. This is a part time night position working 2, 6:30pm-7:00am shifts, and then the following week working 3, 6:30pm-7:00am shifts. Weekend and holiday rotation required.

Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Assists in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. Provides assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. Assists in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. Works as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Requires the ability to resource advanced technology.
• Requires 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Requires knowledge of various surgical procedures in order to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and to recognize the problems encountered by the surgeon within 12 months of employment.
• Requires knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Requires strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field.
